February 20, 2015
This past Thursday, February 19, GUILD speaker and creator of the hit TV series MacGyver, Lee Zlotoff, was interviewed on NPR's "All Things Considered" regarding his quest for "The Next MacGyver."

Zlotoff has joined forces with the National Academy of Engineering, University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering, and top Hollywood producers to launch a crowdsourcing competition for a scripted tv series featuring the next MacGyver.

The project is seeking ideas for a television show starring a female engineer character in a leading role. The goal of the competition is to create a historic TV series that inspires young people, especially women, to consider pursuing engineering. Five winners will each receive $5,000 and have the opportunity to work with top Hollywood producers, who will mentor them in developing the female character and an engaging pilot script.
