charity:water Launches Their #Nothingiscrazy September Campaign

September 4, 2015
Since 2009, charity:water, founded by GUILD speaker Scott Harrison, launches a campaign every September with the purpose of raising funds for the non-profit organization.

This September the campaign's theme is #nothingiscrazy and it compels ordinary people to get creative and use their best skills to raise funds and help reach charity:water's goal of bringing clean drinking water to 50,000 people in need.

As Huffington Post mentions, "the campaign showcases the amazing stories of people from the past who have raised funds for charity: water doing things like eating, marching, biking, etc. while encouraging others to join and get involved." What's the craziest thing one can do ? NOTHING.

Blake Mycoskie Makes Guest Appearance on CNN to Discuss Paid Leave for Parents in the U.S

August 27, 2015
This past Sunday, August 23, Blake Myscoskie joined CNN to discuss paid leave for parents in the United States.

The founder and CEO of TOMS, who took a 12-week paternity leave when his son was born, argues that the lack of paid leaves for parents is detrimental to businesses. "If a dad doesn't take it or isn't offered it, he's tired. He's distracted. He's probably making bad decisions for the business, and he's feeling guilty he's not at home," Blake told CNN's Poppy Harlow.

TOMS offers its employees at least eight weeks of paid leave to new parents, while only 12% of private sector workers in the United States are offered paid family leave, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Blake points out that it is a serious problem that the U.S. is the only developed country that does not guarantee paid leave for parents.
