September 12, 2014
Chase Jarvis just may have predicted the future of movie making when he said "the best camera is the one that's with you." He made the statement in reference to the release of his 2009 Best Camera App, a precursor to Instagram and other photo-sharing applications.

Furthermore, the highly anticipated iPhone 6 now includes photo technology found in high-end DSLRs, asking the question whether mobile phones will have a significant role in the future of filmmaking. An example of a recognized movie using a phone is Searching for Sugarman. The filmmakers, having run out of funds to keep shooting in Super 8, bought a $1 app on the iPhone and finished the film that way. Sugarman went on to win an Oscar.
